Did you say you want to have The Good Life? But do you even know what The Good Life is? What a lot of people tell me about The Good Life is to have everything they ever wanted and make it last forever. Money, health, family, love and everything that makes them smile is good to have.
Money that can buy them anything they want anytime without even giving it a second thought. Beautiful clothes, exotic and expensive food, sophisticated entertainments, all kinds of leisures and pleasures. To put it simply, to live like a King or a Queen. That's the good life? To be served and pampered so that you don't even have to lift a finger to do anything for yourself?
To separate suffering and joy is to believe that we are bound to heaven or hell while we exist here on earth. We have been taught that bad things will make you suffer. Our concept of bad is from the crime to the criminal, poverty to peasantry and sickness to death but that is the worst kind of misconception that will condition us for the rest of our lives if we don't heed the awakening.
People who have the means tend to eat more than they should, accumulate more than necessary and produce more wastage all because they can. So is the good life destroying everything from this planet to the bodies of those who can afford it? If this is not The Good Life then what is?
Did someone say to be happy? So what makes us happy? Abundance? There are so many books, movies, advertisements and ideologies that are thrown at us to remind us everyday that the more we have the better off we are. But ... and then what? So having a warehouse for a closet, food storage that can feed a small country and properties that line up from one end of the road to another will make us happy?
I guess in the end no one will know what makes you happy as much as you know yourself.
